A TELEVISION comedian who has featured on many prime-time shows is appearing in Weston with her brand new show.

Shappi Khorsandi is at The Playhouse on September 17 at 8pm with her show, Me and My Brother In Our Pants, Holding Hands.

The performance focuses on a brother and sister who were best friends but also beat each other up.

Shappi is the daughter of an exiled writer and comic from Iran and has had an unconventional background.

From mental illness to opium dens, it has all happened in the Khorsandi household and now she recounts it all in her show.

Her 2006 show, Asylum Speaker, was an Edinburgh sell-out and she won the best breakthrough act at the Chortle Awards in 2007.

She has appeared on BBC’s Have I Got News For You and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio four’s programmes such as Just A Minute and From Tehran With Laughter.

Moving away from comedy, Shappi has also appeared on BBC’s Question Time in The Guardian and BBC World Service

Shappi’s brother joined her in a seven week sell-out tour with her brother in Los Angeles with a show called How To Be Iranian.
