TWO of the biggest bands of the 1960s will bring some of that decade’s biggest hits to the South West next month.

Gerry And The Pacemakers and The Animals will be joined by US star PJ Proby and Chip Hawkes at The Forum in Bath on October 27 for a celebration of the swinging sixties.

Gerry and the Pacemakers formed in 1959 and were the first band to have three consecutive number ones in the UK charts with How Do You Do It, I Like It and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The Liverpool band paved the way for fellow Merseysiders The Beatles and were one of the biggest bands of the era, also scoring a huge hit with Ferry Cross The Mersey, which was number one in two decades.

The Animals remain one of the most distinctive groups from a golden age of British music having made an indelible impression with hits such as Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, We’ve Got To Get Out Of This Place and massive number one hit House Of The Rising Sun.

The Newcastle five-piece had 10 top 20 hits in the UK and also made a splash in the US and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

US star Proby has achieved huge success around the globe and produced such hits as Hold Me, Together, Somewhere and Maria.

Completing the bill, Chip Hawkes is the original lead singer and songwriter of The Tremeloes, the band responsible for hits such as Here Comes My Baby, Silence Is Golden and Even The Bad Times Are Good.

Tickets for the show are priced 27.50-28 and are available from The Forum box office on 01225 463 362 or at www.bathboxoffice.org.uk
