COMEDIAN Josh Widdicombe is heading to Weston-super-Mare and while he admits he is ‘not very good’ at selling himself, he put it simply when he said: “If you like me on TV then you’ll probably like my show, if you don’t like me on TV then I’d give it a miss.”

The curly-haired funny man is known for appearances on TV shows The Last Leg and Mock The Week, but is now touring with his latest show What Do I Do Now?

He will be at The Playhouse on Monday, and said: “It’s exciting because you get bigger venues every year. Last year Weston was one of the biggest venues, now it’s one of the more standard-size ones.

“I think the further you get from London the more appreciative audiences are. There’s more of an excitement in the town and I think it’s really good to have those little theatres outside of London.

“I like performing in the West Country, you feel a kind of affiliation with the audience and I remember going to Weston as a kid, so I’m really excited.”

The Devon-born star told the Mercury: “This show is more about my life than the news, which is what I do a lot of on TV.

“I do a bit of research about each town. It won’t be 45 minutes about Weston, but I like to talk to the audience. It’s nice to make sure there’s something special about each show.”

Josh Widdicombe will be at The Playhouse at 8pm on Monday. Tickets, priced £18.50, are available on 01934 645544 or via www.theplayhouse.co.uk
