An uncanny portrayal of a legendary comedy duo is coming to a Weston theatre later this month, and Mercury readers could be win free tickets to the action.

An Evening of Eric And Ern, dedicated to two of the country’s most revered performers, Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, will be staged at the Playhouse, in High Street, on September 17 at 7.30pm.

Actors Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens have been performing as Eric and Ern all over the country for almost five years.

The research into their subjects results in a staggeringly accurate portrayal of the legendary double act and the iconic routines, songs and sketches which made them famous.

As seen on BBC One’s The One Show and ITV1’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show, the performances also contain some new writing in the style of Eric and Ern.

For all the family, Eric and Ern is a brilliant homage to Morecambe and Wise crammed full of those famous comedy sketches, from Grieg’s Piano Concerto, Mr Memory…Arsenal, to the paper bag trick.

From the Olivier Award nominated duo Ashpitel and Stephens, this nostalgic show evokes memories of a time when whole families would huddle around the telly on Sunday evenings.

Bringing you sunshine, this show is full of Morecambe and Wise’s most loved routines, songs and sketches and of course a musical guest. This show hits all the right notes.

The Mercury has teamed up with the Playhouse to offer two lucky readers a pair of tickets each to the show.
