I APPLAUD Councillor Mike Bell's desire to rid Weston of 'eyesore' buildings. His request however raises an interesting observation ... as an experienced sitting councillor and executive member for finance, who is always seen to comment on local issues, does he really need the public to point out the obvious? Or has he been blind to Birnbeck Pier, the state of some buildings on the sea front, the former rubber factory in Station Road, Worle, etc? I am surprised he needs to ask the electorate for new things to focus on when there is enough to do with the known eyesores. Perhaps his role as executive member of finance and the control of the every spiralling budgets at North Somerset are not enough to keep him occupied.STEVEN EDWARDSSouthside Crescent, Kewstoke
