THIS is the first time in my life that I have written to a newspaper and it seems strange that I should be talking 'rubbish'!My intention is not to put forward a political point of view and grumble at the local council or put the world to rights but to ask a question. As I was driving south down the M5 a few days ago I noticed the quarry which scars the western face of Crook Peak. Knowing there to be an acute shortage of sites where our rubbish can be deposited, I wondered if it would be possible to fill the quarry and others like it, with our refuse. It could then be grassed over and even if it sank a little, this would look like an undulation in the hill.Due to my lack of knowledge on the subject, I realise that there might well be insurmountable reasons, such as land ownership, vehicle access, etc, etc, which would make it impractical. Is the idea feasible? Could someone with knowledge of rubbish comment?E T ROWSELL - Ringwood Grove, Weston
