A FEW weeks ago, it was revealed that North Somerset Council paid a Weston company £520,000 to market and sell a piece of its own land, not to mention over £20,000 a year of taxpayers' money being wasted to keep the Tropicana closed. It is therefore shameful that Cllr Mike Bell and his committee don't take these considerations into account when increasing payments made by the old and infirm residents to whom the cost of receiving home care was increased by 5.9 per cent. Most of these residents fall into the category of 75 to 80-year-olds.Regarding the vote for a marina by Weston Town Council which Cllr John Crockford-Hawley called 'a toy town meeting'. he said: "I spent most of the time looking at the door to see how fast I could get out of it." Rest assured, beloved councillor, you and your chums will find the door well and truly open. Come the next local elections you will be shown the door in double quick time.DEREK A STANLEYCastle Hill, Banwell
