MAY I thank Mercury reader David Andrews for the most readable, nostalgic music memories of the 1960-70 era in and around Weston. But there is one rock 'n roll group he left out that entertained us all over Weston, and often in Sunday rock shows at the Colston Hall, Bristol, between 1961-68: Royston Jones and the Raiders and later Rodd Young and his Raiders. Oh happy Rock 'n' Roll days.SUSAN BROOKS, Cabot Way, WorleI LOVED David Andrews' article on Seaside Rock and Roll. The list of bands gave me more information on who had played in Weston, mainly my beloved Small Faces. Not only did they play Weston three times but Steve Marriott returned to play at Knightstone Island in 1987. A chance to meet the man himself was a dream come true for this young twenty-something mod.Starstruck was not the word when I sat next to the man himself. He spoke to me telling me The Who's My Generation was a great record. Words failed me. I mumbled something and he was gone, up to the stage to do his set. I did manage to take some photos. Not many exist of his later days. Sadly he died in 1991.STEVE WILKINSON, Tormynton Road, WorleI WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank the Mercury and my son Stuart for your invaluable help with my article.I was surprised by the amount of messages I received. I will, if I have not already done so, reply to everyone who contacted me.DAVID ANDREWS, Via email
