I WAS extremely disappointed by the lack of response via e-mail to my letter backing Chris Kimitri in his frustration over local amenities and the lack of things to attract holidaymakers to stay in our town. But friends and people I spoke to directly voiced their opinions of what this town requires to improve for families both resident and visiting. Overall the major suggestions via e-mail or spoken were: 1. Renovate our lido (The Tropicana), put on a roof and diversify its use (ice skating rink, including local ice hockey, panto on ice, etc.) 2. Allow use for wine bars/restaurants after the pool closes. 3. No additional hotel on the site, we've got enough struggling already. 4. Make the seafront more attractive, palm trees as I suggested was well received, places with shade and picnic tables, tables and shade on the promenade linked to bars. 5. A theme park/s with lots of rides just outside the town. 6. Turn the airfield into a park/ picnic area with trees and deer like the royal parks, - put in lakes for sailing and boating fun, there is a permanent water table already thereA fair few wacky ideas but I guess if we get people into the town all sorts of business opportunities will follow like quality shops one e-mailer wanted to see in a renovated Dolphin Square!I agree with Mark Gray's letter saying that we are tinkering with the town without really tackling the problems with the infrastructure, but I feel businessmen like Chris will not invest more in accommodation till they are sure they can fill rooms for longer than the weekend.Let's fill Chris Kimitri's beds and his fellow hoteliers' roomsPAUL BURNSSunnyside Road, Weston
