OUR MP, Mr Penrose, is rightly questioning whether the PFI agreement costing council taxpayers £207million over 25 years for court buildings worth £45 million represents good value. However, the question he and our councillors should be asking is why council taxpayers have to foot the bill for court buildings, which will be owned by the Government. Her Majesty's Court Service took over the courts some time ago and will receive the proceeds from the sale of the old court buildings, so should be responsible for paying for the new courts which they will own, leaving council tax to fund essential local services.MRS J EDWARDSConstable Drive, Weston
