I WISH to add my voice to the increasing weight of concern over both the continual destruction of rural land and its replacement by what I only regard as modern-day slum houses. Whether Weston does or does not have a lack of housing for its own residents is irrelevant. It is clear that the new housing on the A370 towards the M5 is aimed at up-and-coming young couples who are attracted from Bristol by our lower housing prices.Acre after acre of natural habitat for wildlife is being ruthlessly plundered, replaced by housing built for as many people as possible in a small concentrated area. And for what? An improved Weston? I think not, all we see are ever-increasing traffic jams, pollution, overloaded sewage systems and increases in crime. And what we do not see is the same wildlife that used to adorn Weston's once pleasant outskirts. The wanton destruction of the green belt surrounding Weston will continue until sufficient people cry 'It is enough'.IAN JAMES FROST - Blackthorn Gardens, Weston
