WHAT a chaotic reaction to our recent bad weather with the concept of 'public service' flying out of the window at the first sign of snow and ice.

WHAT a chaotic reaction to our recent bad weather with the concept of 'public service' flying out of the window at the first sign of snow and ice.

Schools shut, dustmen stopped, busses all over the place and all made worse by 'Diverted Traffic' signs pointing at 'Road Closed' notices.

It occurred to me that all health and safety officers should be seconded to spend four weeks in Helmand Province with the army. They wouldn't stop the war, on the plus side, they wouldn't be here - and a touch of reality might be useful.
