WE READ with interest in the Mercury about the old Windwhistle allotment site, Weston, being sold for housing and a garden. It stated a wildlife study had been done. Well, that must be a joke! For a start, you can't get down very far onto the site as it is covered in brambles across the path. We worked an allotment down there four years before they shut it. The wildlife down there is abundant with foxes, slowworms, grass snakes, newts and frogs. Are they going to allow some ground for the wildlife to remain or is it just going to be swallowed up by houses? As there is such a waiting list according to North Somerset for allotments, why don't they reopen the site? S REASON - Selworthy Road, Weston
