Weston-super-Mare's police officers joined a national memorial march in honour of their fallen colleagues this week.

Regular officers, special constables, mounted police and support staff took to the streets in memory of colleagues who have died in the past year.

The National Police Memorial Day event is designed to remember those who have died or been killed on duty, while also demonstrating to relatives and friends of fallen officers that their sacrifice is not forgotten.

The parades, which take place in towns and cities across the country, are also said to recognise the courage and dedication to duty displayed by police officers across the nation.

Prince Charles led national tributes this week, heralding officers who have ‘paid the ultimate sacrifice while safeguarding our families, our communities and our liberty’.

Weston has hosted such a parade every year since 2006.
