Exhibition in memory of Helen

THE handiwork of Shipham, Rowberrow and Star residents will be on display at an art and craft show this month.
People have been invited to exhibit paintings, embroidery, textiles, photography, pottery and sculpture for the show, which takes place at Shipham Village Hall on November 13 and 14 from 10am-4pm.
The exhibition, organised by Shipham Art Group, is in memory of Helen Richard, a leading light in the group, who died last year.
Tina Dodd, one of the organisers, said: “What makes this event unusual is that people who wouldn’t ordinarily put their art works on display have this unique chance to do so alongside local artists. There is a lot of hidden talent in this parish.”
Entry forms must be submitted by tomorrow (Fri) and for more details ring Malcolm Cheeke on 01934 843050.
There will also be a separate children’s competition based on ‘my favourite thing’ and a Gruffy award, similar to the turnip prize of Wedmore.
This prize will be given to the entry with the least amount of effort and a fitting or humorous title.
Entry is free to visitors and there will be refreshments at the tea shop.
