THE work of local artists will be on show in an exhibition at the Winter Gardens from today.

The display, by users of the Carlton Centre, which deals with people with mental health problems and other issues, will be exhibited from today to July 10, running from 9am-5pm.

Pamela Owens, one of the artists, said: “I only started painting before Christmas, but I’ve got 11 or 12 pieces in the exhibition.

“I like to paint like Van Gogh as the way he paints is very inspiring, and the way he uses colour is very interesting.”

Tutor Jules Bulman, who taught the artists during weekly sessions at the Carlton Centre, said : “The quality of the art work on display is testament to the talent and positivity of all contributing artists. The artists very much hope that their work will inspire others and highlight the vital role of provision for mental health services and community learning in North Somerset”

Entry to the exhibition is free.
