ONE of Britain's leading sculptors will showcase her work in a new exhibition in Bristol.

Sophie Ryder’s exhibition Monumental is arguably the largest indoor exhibition of her work ever to be staged, with miniature models sitting alongside statuesque bronzes.

Sophie’s work is an amalgamation of animal and human, miniature and monumental, transparent and opaque.

It is part-autobiographical and part-mythology, as she uses her own body to create her recurring character of the lady-hare but adorns the human figure with a hare’s head.

Monumental will be exhibited at the Royal West Of England Academy from June 12 until September 8.

Sophie will give a talk about her work, themes and scales on June 12 at 6.30pm.

Tickets, priced £5, are available by calling the RWA on 01179 735129.
