THE Blakehay Theatre will host to a comedy extravaganza this month, with high-grade stand-ups promised.
The Comedy Box is returning to the theatre this September, in what will be the first of a monthly series of shows from the UK comedy circuit.
Andrew Bird, who has been labelled the next star of British comedy, will be first on the bill on September 13.
The Northamptonshire-born comedian, with a fast and animated style has performed all over the world, supported Rhod Gilbert on tour and taken part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Second on the bill is Dana Alexander, Canada’s most outspoken woman, whose comedic style is refreshing and irreverent. She draws her inspiration from her crazy Jamaican background and diverse, colourful lifestyle.
She began her comedy career at 18, taking a tour of Canada’s comedy circuit, before hopping over the pond to try her luck in Britain.
Sally-Anne Hayward will act as compere on the night, hoping to win over the audience with her endearing and eccentric charm. Her autobiographical humour travels through amusing anecdotes and interesting insights into the female psyche.
The laughter will commence at 8pm on September 13. Tickets, priced £12, are available from the box office at 01934 645493 or from www.thecomedybox.co.uk
