Though her days as presenter of the Great British Bake Off may have come to an end this week, Sue Perkins has a bright future ahead of her on stage.
Bristol’s Colston Hall, in Colston Street, will host the acclaimed comedy star on March 7, 2017 at 7.30pm.
Perkins is one of the most recognisable faces on British television, and for 12 weeks a year, she and her partner in crime Mel Giedroyc have delighted the nation with their bizarre, yet invaluable addition to the nation’s favourite programme.
But if you need more than a weekly hit of genoise gags and Black Forest banter, this is the show for you.
The show is based on the 47-year-old’s best-selling book Spectacles – a memoir of Perkins’ years as a performer which have seen her delighting crowds and living rooms with her inventive wit.
The London-born performer rose to prominence alongside her pal Giedroyc, starring in a string of programmes together, but Perkins is a hilarious comedienne in her own right.
The show will feature a number of tickling tall tales and a users guide to baking queen Mary Berry.
The Independent On Sunday described the book as ‘warm, crisp and beautifully layered – like its author, Spectacles is a complete delight’, confirming this show has a more-than-solid foundation to thrill audiences.
Having racked up enough TV appearances on shows like QI and Have I Got News For You to fill a big plastic tent, Perkins is sure to make this an event not to be missed.
Tickets for this show, priced £25.50, are available from 08448 871500, or online via www.colstonhall.org/shows/sue-perkins
