WORLD-FAMOUS funnyman Russell Brand will be performing in Weston next week.

The distinctive comedian, known for his eccentric and often-controversial performances, will perform at The Playhouse Theatre on Tuesday at 8pm.

Having started out as a stand-up, Brand then moved onto television presenting and achieved his big break in the UK as the host of Big Brother’s Big Mouth.

While still plugging away with numerous stand-up tours, the irrepressible Brand made the step up first to British films with St Trinian in 2007, and then US movies with Forgetting Sarah Marshall in 2008.

Since then he has become one of the biggest names in comedy either side of the Atlantic and recently made an appearance at the closing ceremony of the London Olympic Games.

Tickets for the show, which is open to people aged 16 and over only, are priced £25.

They are available from the theatre box office on 01934 645544 or at
