Weston to welcome Alan Davies
PUBLISHED: 09:00 29 January 2015
BRITISH comedy stalwart Alan Davies is stopping off in Weston this year for one night only with his latest show, Little Victories.
Davies is equal parts silly and shrewd, and has earned himself a reputation as one of the best stand-up comedians around.
Not many comics can claim to have a career as long and successful as Davies, who first took to the stage in 1988.
He shot to fame straight away and was runner-up in the City Limits new act of the year contest in 1989.
He was then named Time Out best young comic in 1991 and made his network television debut on Tonight with Jonathan Ross in 1992.
In the following years, he was nominated for a British Comedy Award as best newcomer, he won an Edinburgh Festival Critics Award for comedy and a Perrier Award Nomination, and was nominated for a British Comedy Award as best stand-up comedian.
For all his exploits, he is probably best known as the much-loved resident dunderhead on the panel show QI or the star of iconic television series Jonathan Creek – for which he has won a BAFTA and a National TV Award.
Despite his lengthy career he has lost none of his appeal as a stand-up and Little Victories has reached critical acclaim for being hilarious and heart-warming.
Davies will be at The Playhouse in High Street at 8pm on November 26.
The show is recommended for those aged 15 or older. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday) at 10am.
Tickets, priced £22-27, can be booked from the box office on 01934 645544 or from www.theplayhouse.co.uk
