THE showbusiness legend that is Des O’Connor will appear live on stage at the Grand Pier in Weston this month - and we have tickets to his show for lucky readers to win.

The audience will be treated to an evening of comedy, laughter and music from the internationally-acclaimed stage and television star on June 29.

Des O’Connor landed his first television show in the UK in 1963 and has starred in his own mainstream programme, somewhere in the world, every year since then.

Since 1967, he has also been a hugely-successful recording star.

The crooner had his first hit single with Careless Hands, followed by I Pretend, which went to number one in the UK charts.

His recording career has produced 35 albums, with sales of more than 16 million.

Des has spent 117 weeks in the top 10 charts in the UK.

He was most recently known for his award-winning ITV1 celebrity talk show Today With Des & Mel.

Grand Pier owner Kerry Michael said: “The Grand Pier is now well established as a major venue in the South West.

“We have been able to attract world-class acts like The Three Degrees and The Drifters and I am delighted we have also been able to book some really big names like Jim Davidson and Des O’Connor.

“We are now so much more than a family entertainment venue.

“The Grand Pier is a major visitor attraction that is bringing visitors and concert-goers into the town in the daytime and evening throughout the year.”

Tickets, which are all seated, are now available from the Grand Pier shop on the first floor of the pavilion building at £22 or via the Grand Pier website at

Online ticket purchases may involve a booking fee.

Doors will open at 7.30pm. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

To win one of two pairs of tickets to the show answer the following question:
