Lovers of sci-fi will be in for a treat when characters from stage and screen appear at an event in Weston next month.

A former Doctor Who actor is among the star names due to appear at the Stars Of Time and Comic Con event which will be held over the August bank holiday weekend.

Back for a second year, the sci-fi festival will be held on the seafront at the Tropicana.

Sylvester McCoy, who was the seventh incumbent to play the time lord, will be signing autographs.

His appearance is even more hotly-anticipated given the recent announcement that former Broadchurch actor Jodie Whittaker will soon be taking on the title role for the BBC.

Also attending the event will be Andrew Lee Potts from Primeval and Clem So from Doctor Strange.

Fans will be in their element as there will be lots of collectables available to buy, plus a host of wonderful displays, including a Star Wars lightsaber exhibition.

Much-loved Weston street artist JPS will also be painting live and selling limited edition signed prints.

Event organiser David Burrows said it promises to be a ‘show not to be missed’.

It will be open at the Tropicana on August 27 and 28 from 10am-5.30pm.

Tickets, priced £3.50-6.50, are available online through the event’s website at www.starsoftime.co.uk

Discounted family tickets are available too.

* The Mercury has teamed up with Stars Of Time organisers to offer three lucky winners a family ticket to the exhibition. Tickets will allow five people to enter the show.

For a chance to win, simply answer the following question 10am on August 4.
