MUSICAL maestros will go head-to-head on Monday and compete to be named Churchill Young Musician of the Year.The finalists have been selected by Churchill Community School's music department for the contest, aimed at giving youngsters an insight into the competitive world of professional music.The final will be held at St John the Baptist Church in Churchill.The finalists will be expected to display all the skills needed to present a first class performance and will each perform an eight minute programme comprising two short works. The winner will receive a generous cash prize, made possible by an anonymous donor, to be spent on furthering their musical career.The audience will play an important part in the selection of the runner-up, who will receive a specially designed Audience Trophy.The judging panel will be led by Richard Crabtree, professor of viola at London's Trinity College of Music. The competition, organised by the school's youth project Churchill Music!, will start at 6pm.
