With the cold weather setting in, many of us are looking ahead to Christmas to help stave-off the winter blues.
There are plenty of Christmas fairs and events to get excited about in Weston this weekend.
And, for those in the market for something slightly more strange, Saturday’s racing event promises to be an absolute ‘squeal’.
For a full round-up of events, pick-up a copy of tomorrow’s (Thursday’s) Weston Mercury.
n This weekend will begin with a journey back in time; to the cobbled streets of Victorian England.
The Victorian Christmas Fair at Acer House Care Home will feature a selection of food and drink, including boozy hot chocolate, traditional mince pies and mulled wine. There will also be handmade gifts and a visit from former Coronation Street star Sherrie Hewson.
The Victorian Christmas Fayre will run on Friday from 2-4.30pm.
n A trio of thrilling ghost stories, set to a haunting soundtrack of violin music, will be told at Clevedon Triangle Centre on Friday night at 7.30pm.
Tickets, priced £12, are available at www.theatreorchard.org.uk/event/shivers
n On Saturday and Sunday, get creative with a visit to the Artists’ Open Studios at Old Town Quarry.
The event will see the artists discussing the ideas, techniques and inspiration behind their work.
Tea, coffee, cakes and a light lunch will also be available.
The event will run on Saturday and Sunday, 10.30am-4.30pm.
n For one night only, The Cider Shed in Shipham will play host to a special pig racing event.
The event is being held to raise money for charity.
A table of eight people, priced £25, can be booked by calling 01934 842812. Each booking includes a cheese platter. Alternatively, you can join a table for £3.50. The event starts at 7.30pm.
n Backwell Playhouse Theatre will host a production of psychological thriller Gaslight.
The production will run at The Playhouse from Thursday to Saturday, with performances at 2.30 and 7.30pm.
