THE death of a woman from North Somerset's beloved dog inspired her to write a book which is being sold in aid of two charities.

Teresa Gard’s black Labrador Zeus was referred to the Small Animal Hospital in Langford when he fell ill, and he became the first patient at the new intensive care unit which was opened earlier this year.

Although he died from a complex auto immune disorder, his owner was inspired to write a heart-warming tale about a sniffer dog called Coke.

The Burrington-based author’s book, Rum And Coke On The Rocks, draws up on her memories of her time spent with her pet.

The book was launched at the animal hospital on September 20, and proceeds raised through its sale will go towards The Langford Trust For Animal Health And Welfare and the Friends Of Bude Sea Pool.

It also contains illustrations by Deborah Partington.

The book is priced £10 and is available from The Langford Trust office at Langford House, Trug Flowers in High Street, Wrington and Renaissance in Woodborough Road, Winscombe.
