YOUNG couple Sophia (Britt Robertson) and Luke (Scott Eastwood) appear to have life and love all figured out in The Longest Ride, until fate intervenes.

This is the latest book to hit the big screen from Nicholas Sparks, the author of The Notebook.

Sophia is an art student, about to start her dream job in New York, while Scott is a former champion bull rodeo rider planning his comeback, and they are both madly in love.

But soon, their wildly different career paths start to test their resolve and affection for one another, before they meet someone who will change their lives forever.

Elderly widower Ira (Alan Alda) becomes intertwined with the couple when he crashes his car and they come to the rescue.

Before long the old man becomes a big influence in their lives, and gives them a new perspective on the world with tales of his lost love.

He tells the story of how a young Ira (Jack Huston) met his wife (Oona Chaplin) in the 1940s, and the inspirational, touching tale soon has a big impact on the two young lovers.
