The Mercury has joined forces with The Odeon to offer readers the chance to get tickets to one of the first showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the Weston cinema.

Star Wars is one of cinema’s most legendary franchises and is arguably the most well-known and celebrated sci-fi series of all time.

The first three Star Wars films were released in the 1970s and 1980s and were widely acclaimed, but the second trilogy – released from 1999-2005 – received mixed reviews.

In 2012, Disney took over the Star Wars franchise and promised a sequel trilogy, following on from Episode VI, The Return Of The Jedi.

The latest film is set 30 years after The Return Of The Jedi and sees a new generation of heroes – plus a few familiar faces – fighting for the freedom of the galaxy.

A new enemy has risen from the ruins of the old Empire and the Jedi must unite once more to take down the Dark Side using the power of the Force.

The film will land in cinemas nationwide on December 17, with tickets available to buy now.

The Mercury, together with Weston’s Odeon, is offering five pairs of tickets to see the film – and each winner will also get a large drink and popcorn to enjoy during the screening.
