ICONOCLASTIC director Oliver Stone returns to the screen with an adaptation of Don Winslow's best-selling crime novel, Savages (15).
The film features Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch as two Californian entrepreneurs who strike gold when their marijuana growing business starts to rake in the cash.
But their success brings them to the attention of Elena (Salma Hayek) and Lado (Benicio del Toro) and their Mexican cartel.
After refusing his deal of a partnership, the duo and their friend Ophelia (Blake Lively) are thrown into a head-on collision with the brutal gang.
The trio are forced to wage war against the gangsters, with the only assistance forthcoming being that of a corrupt DEA agent played by John Travolta.
Savages is the first film made by Stone (Platoon, JFK) since Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps in 2010, and is out tomorrow (Fri).
