South Ward writers to read from works for festival

FOUR members of a Weston writing group will see their work published as part of a collection of stories at Weston Fringe Festival.

The four authors from South Words Writers, based on the Bournville estate, will see their work compiled into a book Echoes And Shadows.

The book will be promoted at Weston Arts Gallery in Locking Road at 7.30pm on September 4, where Weston writers Vickie Bardsley, Tina Cooke, Elaine Dedicoat and Lynda Wilkins will read extracts from their work.

Editor and former Worle Community School head Bob Walton has been helping to run the group’s creative writing sessions at the For All Healthy Living Centre for the past two years.

He said: “I have been really impressed by the group’s passion for writing and the way they have been prepared to try out new ideas with such enthusiasm.

“This book offers an excellent selection of their imaginative, powerful storytelling.”

Bournville Community Theatre Company will also perform a short play at the launch.
