The latest entry into the Conjuring cinematic universe hit cinema screens on Thursday and Mercury readers could win front-row tickets to see it for free.
The Nun is the fifth entry in the film series and is a spin-off to 2016’s The Conjuring 2.
It is set years before the events of Annabelle: Creation, making it chronologically the first entry in to the Conjuring universe.
When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life in the 1950s, a priest (Demian Bichir) with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows (Taissa Farmiga) are sent by the Vatican to investigate.
Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret, risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls.
They confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun which terrorised audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a battleground between the living and the damned.
The franchise is one of the horror genre’s highest grossing, earning more than £1billion worldwide at the box office.
A third Annabelle film is set to be released in July next year while another spin-off titled The Crooked Man is in its early development stages but has no release date. The Nun is directed by Corin Hardy, best known for 2015 horror film The Hallow.
Billed as a writer and producer is James Wan, the man behind the Insidious and Saw franchises.
Also cast are Charlotte Hope as the abbey’s Sister Victoria and Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana.
The Nun will screen at Weston’s Odeon cinema, in The Centre, today (Thursday) at 4.15pm, 8pm and 8.30pm.
The Mercury has teamed up with the Odeon to offer three lucky readers a pair of tickets to a screening of their choice.
