A HUGELY popular 1986 cult classic is being screened as part of the latest event arranged by Weston's own Backyard Cinema.

Labyrinth, starring David Bowie, is a family adventure film which follows 15-year-old Sarah – who accidently wishes away her half-brother Toby.

Toby is sent to the Goblin King Jareth, who holds him hostage, so Sarah goes on a mission to rescue the infant.

Jareth is intent on turning the boy into a goblin, unless Sarah can tackle the labyrinth in less than 13 hours.

With the exception of the lead roles, most of the characters are puppets.

Despite being a box office flop when it was first released, the film has since developed a devoted following with fans of all ages.

The film is being shown at Weston Cricket Club in Devonshire Road on June 5 at 9pm, with gates opening at 7.30pm.

The audience can take along a picnic but not alcohol, as there will be a licensed bar on-site.
