The Commitments

THE team who brought Weston its first open air cinema is now hosting a film screening on a farm - and we have tickets to give away.

Backyard Cinema has joined forces with Blagdon-based dairy company Yeo Valley to deliver a unique film experience.

Irish comedy drama The Commitments is being screened in the farm’s organic garden.

The 1991 film tells the story of working class Dubliners who form a soul band.

The colourful characters come together on stage, only to tragically fall apart after a clash of egos.

The film will be shown at the farm in Bath Road on May 8 from 9pm, with gates opening at 7pm. Tickets, priced £10-13, are available from

The Mercury has teamed up with the Backyard Cinema to offer four lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to the show.
