A POWERFUL ballet which focuses on one of the most Machiavellian characters in Russian history is being screened in Weston.

The Odeon is showing Bolshoi Ballet’s dramatic and dark production of Ivan The Terrible.

Ivan IV Vasilyevich, commonly known as Ivan the Terrible, was the Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533 to 1547 and Tsar of All the Russias from 1547 until his death.

When his beloved wife Anastasia is poisoned by his enemy, the Tsar finds himself surrounded by enemies and sinking into deep depression and madness.

This stunning yet vigorous production follows the monarch from his coronation, to his wedding and through to his demise.
