More than 50 years on from The Shadows recording the hit which catapulted the band to fame, a top-notch tribute act is heading to Weston-super-Mare to honour their greatest hits.
Though The Shadows’ gigs are now few and far between, The Bootleg Shadows will give their iconic guitar sounds a good airing for a Weston audience during a date at The Playhouse, in High Street, this month.
The tribute group are set to take audiences back to the 1960s, replicating The Shadows’ biggest hits on August 26 at 7.30pm.
All the hits of Hank Marvin and his band of guitar stars will be played, including Dance On, Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, FBI, Foot Tapper and of course Apache, which dominated the charts for five weeks in 1960.
The Shadows are one of Britain’s most successful rock bands and had dozens of hits from the 1950s onwards.
The Bootleg boys are set to take the audience on a tour of the Shadows’ career, with plenty of humour coupled with the band’s best-known tunes to make it a night out to remember.
Tickets, priced £20 for adults and £18.50 for concessions, are available from 01934 645544, or online via www.theplayhouse.co.uk
