Magenta will perform at the revival of The Bell's folk club.

A village music club which attracted big crowds and big-name acts several decades ago will return for a one-off show next month.

Banwell’s Bell Inn Folk Club will be resurrected for one night only at the village hall, in Westfield Crescent, on June 30 at 7.30pm.

Fred Wedlock and Jake Thackray were among a long list of well-known performers to play at The Bell’s old folk club.

Topping the bill is Magenta, The Bell’s former resident band which played countless gigs in the 1970s and 80s.

The band disbanded in 1985 before reuniting a few years ago, and they released their fifth album Let It Fall in November.

Organiser Arthur Brown said: “The hall was used on a number of occasions by the club to put on larger concerts and it is hoped the atmosphere of The Bell can be revived for one more night on June 30.”

Tickets, priced £10, are available on 07970 100252 or 07970 525826.
