Born to be Idlewild

PUBLISHED: 09:00 15 October 2015

SCOTTISH alt-rockers Idlewild bring their brand of passionate rock to Bristol University’s Anson Rooms.

Well known for hit singles You Held The World In Your Arms and American English, the band released their last album Post Electric Blues in 2009 before going on a four-year hiatus.

Since then, frontman Roddy Woomble has released two solo albums, while guitarist Rod Jones has released material under his own name in addition to forming his own band The Birthday Suit.

In 2014, after a lengthy lay-off, Idlewild returned, completing a sell-out acoustic tour of unique, intimate venues throughout their homeland, Scotland.

As part of a new 16-date world tour and pending the release of new single Utopia on November 27, they arrive in the West Country and will appear at the Bristol venue at 7.30pm on December 12.

Tickets, priced £20, are available from or by calling Anson Rooms on 01173 318663.
