A TRIBUTE to the original Rocket Man is being held in Weston with Ultimate Elton and the Rocket Band.

Paul Bacon looks and sounds like Elton John, and as a lifelong fan he has been singing his idol’s songs since the early 1980s.

He won the National Tributes Awards in 2013 because of his remarkably similar tone and style.

Drawing from a wealth of material, Paul has hand-picked his favourites to create a unique celebration of Elton’s music.

Audiences will be treated to such smooth classics as Your Song, Candle In The Wind, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Sacrifice and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.

But it won’t all be down-tempo, as hits such as Crocodile Rock, I’m Still Standing and Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting are guaranteed to change the pace.

This could be as close as you will get to the real thing, so if you want to be serenaded with some of the best-known ballads in history this is a show not to be missed.

The performance will take place at 7.30pm on July 15 at The Playhouse in High Street.

Tickets, priced £18-20, are available from the box office on 01934 645544 or on www.theplayhouse.co.uk

The Mercury has teamed up with The Playhouse to offer three lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to the show.
