Cider-infused festival set to rock at Somerset farm

A three-day music festival which boasts an eclectic line-up of popular names and quirky South West-based musicians, and an unrivalled selection of cider, will be held in the Somerset countryside next month.
The Outcider festival will be held at Fernhill Farm, off the B3134 in Compton Martin, on August 4-6, featuring a wide range of sounds and ciders.
The 500-person capacity event promises to deliver an intimate and memorable experience for festival-goers with a top-quality line-up of musicians and West Country tipple.
Headlining the festival are Canadian folk-punk stars The Dreadnoughts, who are sure to perform a set packed with energy and power which will get the crowd bouncing along.
The band produces chaotic yet melodic tunes by masterfully blending the sounds of fiddles, accordions, mandolins and guitars.
Also on the bill is Bristol-based acoustic performer Gaz Brookfield, who is one of the most popular unsigned artists in the country and is famed for his work ethic which sees him play as many as 200 shows a year.
Brookfield has performed at more than 100 festivals, including Glastonbury, so the audience will be in safe hands with this seasoned veteran who is no stranger to an outdoor stage.
The festival will be brought to a close by scrumpy and Western favourites Skimmity Hitchers, who are known for their catchy cider-infused lyrics which get everyone singing along.
Other notable acts performing at Outcider are The Stiff Joints, Maid Of Ace and Hymn For Her.
Away from the two live music stages at the festival, there is a range of locally-sourced food and drink, with cider fans in particular set to enjoy an extensive range of Somerset cider.
Die-hard festival fans can camp at the event, while day tickets are also available.
Festival organiser Kev Davis said: “The feedback from last year’s festival was amazing and the common theme was don’t change anything.
“We’ve worked really hard to come up with another interesting and original line-up, in the knowledge that the venue and the people who come will create the rest of the magic.”
Tickets, priced £15-59, are available from www.outciderfestival.co.uk/tickets/
Guests must be aged 18 or older to attend this event.
