Poet Dr John Cooper Clarke and esteemed singer-songwriter Hugh Cornwell are teaming up for a new UK tour, which is taking them to Bristol's O2 Academy.

It has been described as a match in rock and roll heaven, and their first collaborative album, This Time It’s Personal, features tracks they both grew up listening to.

But the record does not include any of Cooper Clarke’s spoken words, nor Cornwell’s distinctive vocal.

Instead Cooper Clarke is announcing himself as a singer in his own right, with former Stranglers frontman Cornwell on guitar.

Each has been recognised for their influence on generations of British artists, but they say this album is a ‘voyage of discovery’.

Cooper Clarke said: “These are great tunes and we’ve done our very best to respect them and bring them back to life.”

The duo will be at the O2 Academy on November 30 at 7pm. Tickets, priced £24.75, are available from www.academymusicgroup.com/o2academybristol
