PROLIFIC folk singer and BBC award-winner Bella Hardy is playing an exclusive gig in Bristol to celebrate the release of her seventh studio album.

With The Dawn is Hardy’s first album since being named BBC Radio Two’s Folk Singer Of The Year in 2014, and it marks a new direction for the star.

Where previously Hardy adapted and explored traditional folk ballads and fables, her latest offering is entirely self-penned.

With The Dawn is an account of a year of her life and is inspired by her own experiences of life on the road.

It has been released to
much critical acclaim and has received warm reviews.

Hardy released her debut album Night Visiting in 2007 and one of its songs, Three Black Feathers, was nominated for a BBC Folk Award.

In 2008 she performed in two sell-out concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall as part of the first Folk Prom.

Since then Hardy has continued to record and perform at a tremendous rate, singing on numerous BBC radio and TV programmes and winning another Radio Two Folk Award for her song The Herring Girl.

The Derbyshire singer will be at The Lantern at Colston Hall, in Colston Street, Bristol, on May 9 at 8pm.

Tickets, priced £15, are available from the box office on 08448 871500 or online at
