Funk and Gaz take to Weston stage

THE Raglan Arms in Weston welcomes two acts to its stage this weekend.


The Funkinsteins will be playing at the Upper Church Road venue on Saturday at 9pm and Gaz Brookfield will be appearing their on Sunday at 9pm.

Women fronted hi-energy funk party band the Funkinsteins are from Bristol.

Amazing vocals, breathtaking guitar and bass are provided by the girls Sal Wyatt and Alexandra Palass, the drums come courtesy of the mighty Jon Carter.

They have been touring the UK for the last two years and have a new album The Escape on release this year produced by David Palmer.

Since 2001 Gaz has been in various bands including Kickout, British Beef and Durera.

In 2006 Gaz went full time solo and since then has played with artists such as Newton Faulkner, Frank Turner, Nik Kershaw, Mark Morris from Bluetones, Pete Doherty, Oxygen Thief, Ben Marwood, Jim Lockey, My Name Is Ian and Clayton Blizzard.

His songs are instantly accessible, played in a folk-type style with occasional use of the guitar as a percussive tool, as well as some two handed venturing around the fretboard.
