AFTER a gig rated by many onlookers as Weston’s musical highlight of 2012, a Mercury Music Prize-winning vocalist is returning to the town for an encore performance next week.

Ben Ottewell is the distinctive gravelly-voiced frontman with folk-rock outfit Gomez, who won the prestigious music gong back in 1998.

His unique baritone has been described as ‘a voice that shakes windows’ by GQ magazine, and he was in full voice when appearing at Loves Café last November.

Such was the success of the Derbyshire-born singer-songwriter’s gig, he is returning to the West Street venue on Wednesday to give fans a second dose of his heartfelt solo material.

With a second individual album release under his belt since his previous show, gig-goers can expect to enjoy a host of new songs.

Support from Weston favourite Alex Lipinski will begin at 8pm, with Ottewell due to take the stage from 9pm.

Tickets are priced at £13.50 and are available from www.lovesweston.co.uk
