A group who have reinvented the brass band will be performing an evening of music in Bristol later this year.

The Hackney Colliery Band played a 45-minute set at the London 2012 Olympics ceremony which saw them hit the path to success, having now performed live sessions for BBC2 and Jazz FM.

The band have also collaborated with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jamie Cullum.

Their sound is influenced by contemporary rock and electronica alongside jazz and brass music with their New Orleans-style line-up of trumpets, trombones, saxaphones and sousaphones.

Hackney Colliery Band will be at The Lantern, which is inside Colston Hall in Colston Street, on May 5. Doors will open at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £16.12 to include a booking fee, are available by calling 01172 034040 or via www.colstonhall.org
