A MEMORIAL concert is being held to commemorate a well-loved Somerset musician.

Christopher Manners died unexpectedly just before Christmas and to honour his much-respected talent and influence in the county, a celebratory concert is being held in Weston.

It is taking place at All Saints’ Church in All Saints Road, where for many years he had been director of music.

Members of Harmonia Sacra will present works by Scarlatti, Constanzi, William Harris and Hugill in a production called Ancient And Modern.

Musicologist Dr Leech has composed a new work in Christopher’s memory which will receive its premiere performance at the concert.

The event takes place on Sunday at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £10, are available from the Heritage Café in Wadham Street and on the door.
