NORTH Somerset Community Brass will play its first gig in Weston's All Saints Church on Friday.

The band’s accomplished players have been together since 2008, rehearse in Hewish village hall and give frequent concerts for local charities. Under musical director Peter Vann they have also broadcast on BBC Radio 3. The peformance will start at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £6 for adults and £3 for children, are available on the door, in All Saints Road, or by calling 01934 832632.

On the following evening, Saturday, the region’s fully professional orchestra the Bristol Ensemble will perform at the church at 7.30pm.

Violinist and recording star Roger Huckle will direct the ensemble in performances of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and Autumn and Winter from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Tickets, priced £10, are available from the Heritage Café, in Wadham Street, or £12 on the night. Student concessions of £3 are also available.
