Scottish singer and former indie band frontman Roddy Woomble will perform songs from his new album at Thekla in Bristol.

He fronted the Scottish band Idlewild, and together they released eight albums and three compilations, two of which reached the UK’s top 10.

Not long after they released their 2015 album Everything Ever Written, they began recording their next songs.

However, they decided to take a break, and Woomble ended up working on a personal and introspective album by himself.

The material moves through folk rock, to country and indie rock, with some jazz elements.

It is all held together by his soft Scottish baritone and thoughtful, often mysterious, lyrics.

Woomble will perform at Thekla, in The Grove, on October 21, where doors will open at 6.30pm.

Tickets, priced £16.50, are available from www.bristolticketshop.co.uk
