PLASTERER Steve Mitchell is building the foundations of a new career. The aspiring singer-songwriter from Weston has released a self-composed debut single, Still Fallin', written about his wife. The track has been chosen by Invicta FM DJ Graham Torrington as his record of the week and is being broadcast on more than 45 radio stations including GWR in Bristol, Bath and Swindon.Although his name may be unfamiliar, 31-year-old Steve has already made his mark on the West Country music scene as former front man for Weston band Evanfly.Steve admits to being ambitious and he says he feels the need to satisfy his drive and hunger to succeed. The 31-year-old, who runs his own plastering business in the town, said: "I felt I was just going through the motions, so I have decided to go all the way back to the beginning. The minute I went solo, the fire started raging."I prefer the stuff I am doing now. It has so much more feeling. I found that, being in a band, I couldn't fully express any emotion."I don't always want to be a plasterer. If I can forge a career in the music industry, I will be happy to go along with it. If fame and fortune come I will be happy to go along with that as well."Steve grew up surrounded by music, having been introduced to The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Tamla Motown by his parents and he has been singing since he was a child. He is now embarking on a round of gigs at venues in the Bristol, Weston and Bath areas and is hoping for more radio and TV exposure. The record is due to be released on February 5 by independent label Sand Records and will be able to be downloaded from the internet via iTunes, Napster, HMV, Virgin, Woolworths, Tesco, MetroTunes, 7Digital, iMesh, Recordstore, and Fopp. For more information on Steve you can visit his website at www.stevemitchellmusic.com
