An evening of music and politics will be held at one of Weston-super-Mare's theatres this month, with singer-songwriter Steve Knightley set to perform.

North Somerset Unison has organised the event, which will take place at The Blakehay Theatre in Wadham Street on September 14.

Knightly is the songwriting force between Show Of Hands, a band widely regarded as one of England’s finest acoustic roots duo after winning a legion of fans during a performing career spanning more than 25 years.

He will be playing a selection of political songs at the event, which will begin at 7pm.

Unison’s South West regional secretary Joanne Kaye and South West TUC regional secretary Nigel Costley will be guest speakers.

The event is for adults only and tickets, priced £17, are available via www.blakehaytheatre.co.uk or by calling 01934 645493.
