THE music of one of the greatest British big bands of all time will be remembered in a special performance next month.A tribute To The Great Ted Heath and his Orchestra will be staged at The Playhouse, Weston, on June 8.Ted Heath learned to play several instruments when he was a child and went on to play trombone with several orchestras during the 1920s and 1930s. In 1944 Ted gathered together his own musicians and formed the Heath Orchestra.The band's appeal grew during the 1950s and it remained popular in the 1960s.The musical director of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Chris Dean, will join up with his own big band to play tribute to Ted and his post-war swing band. They will play well-loved numbers including The Creep, Bakerloo Non-Stop, The Man I Love and That Lovely Weekend.Tickets, priced £16.50-18.50, are available from the box office on 01934 645544.
